Get support with employer accreditation

Compulsory employer accreditation

Are you a New Zealand employer, looking to hire or retain people from overseas? You need to be accredited with Immigration New Zealand and we can help.

The main purpose of the accreditation requirement is to reduce migrant exploitation.
Accreditation is stage 1 of the 3-stage Accredited Employer Work Visa policy and application process.

There are three types of accreditation depending on how many people you employ on the new Accredited Employer Work Visa (AEWV) at any given time, and your business type.

By gaining Accreditation status, you meet the legal criteria to employ people on visas and hire people from overseas. Employers must be accredited to employ people on any visa type (not just AEWV).

Not accredited yet? We can help you get under way!

We have been helping New Zealand employers manage all aspects of the visa and immigration process, for over a decade. Our team has managed the accreditation process long before this became a compulsory requirement.

Accreditation Compliance Checks

Once accredited, Kiwi employers must meet ongoing obligations set out by immigration New Zealand as part of your accreditation agreement.

Compliance Checks and verification activities may be conducted at any time after an accreditation has been granted and during the process of renewal.

Checks include paper-based assessments, site visits, interviews with employees on site, and verification of information with third-party as well as publicly available information.

Recent announcements have revealed that random accreditation compliance checks will now be an ongoing part of ensuring businesses meet their obligations.

These random checks are already underway. They can take place at any time and failure to meet standards could result in suspension or revocation of your accreditation status, which could have serious consequences for your ability to employ migrant workers.

Don’t risk losing your accreditation status!

Are you meeting your Settlement obligations?

As an accredited employer you must provide information to help your workers on Accredited Employer Work Visas (AEWV) settle into their jobs and New Zealand. The type of information you are required to provide must cover important aspects of living and working in New Zealand.

All settlement activities must be completed within 1 month of an employee’s start date as an AEWV holder.

We have been providing Settlement support to Kiwi businesses since 2015 and are here to help you through these new requirements.

Our team has purpose-built a portal to help employers deliver the settlement support information to your employees.

In addition, you must give your employees time during paid work hours to complete online employment learning modules. The modules help migrants learn about their employment rights.

You must keep records having completed the settlement activities. Our portal helps deliver and record this information, ready for any compliance checks.
