English language solutions for AEWV and Residency
Meet the new INZ requirements with our English Testing & Training
The New Zealand government has introduced a new requirement that affects employers hiring certain occupations on a visa.
Our English Testing and Training system has been designed to take this stress away from business owners and give workers the reassurance they need to have their visas approved. This system is available now so AEWV Visas can still be lodged with minimal downtime.

Who needs to meet the new language requirements?
Previously, meeting English language proficiency was a legal requirement solely for residency applications. However, as of 8 April 2024, this requirement extends to all AEWV applications at ANSCO skill levels 4 or 5.
Any person applying for an AEWV from this time must meet a minimum English proficiency score of 4 in IELTS (International English Language Testing System) or 29 in PTE (Pearson’s Test of English).
At Working In, we are using the PTE testing system for multiple reasons and have a solution for your workers who need to sit the test.
Meet these new requirements simply and cost-effectively
If you are about to lodge an AEWV for an employee in this category, put simply, you can’t lodge a visa without proof of the required English language level.
Contact us and we can guide you through the process so you can have your visas approved. Regardless of the stage your worker is at, we’re here to assist you.
Our simple process is designed to support you and your worker right through to visa approval stage.
STEP ONE – Initial test
Before committing financially to a full test which is $445 + GST, we strongly advise you to identify your applicant’s current English language level. You may find they pass the initial test and hence don’t need tuition.
We assess this through PTE for a one-off fee of $95 + GST. This assessment will give you a clear understanding of whether they meet the required threshold or not.
STEP TWO – Proceed or commence tuition
Once you have an idea of language levels you can either decide to proceed to the main test or we can get your worker/s underway with our English Language Training. Our internationally qualified Language Training Expert is also a Licensed Immigration Adviser so you can rest assured you are in expert hands.
STEP THREE
Once your worker has reached the required level, we can lodge their visa and manage the whole process for you.
If you need to lodge an AEWV now with the additional English Language requirements please contact us and we can guide you through the process.

Whatever stage of the process you are at, we can help
Recent changes to policy show that immigration opportunities are not locked in stone. If you want your candidates to obtain residency, we strongly suggest they deal with the English Language requirement now as meeting the required threshold could take many months. If they don’t meet residency requirements they could be asked to leave New Zealand under the mandatory one year’s stand down rule.
