Industry: Hospitality Location: Queenstown, New Zealand
The challenge
Sudima Queenstown 5 Mile needed two new housekeepers – fast. With the busy winter tourism season approaching, the hotel reached out to us to have staff on-site and ready to start work within a month.
Our solution
We fast-tracked two skilled and experienced hospitality interns from one of our most reliable partner universities, Sun International Institute of Tourism & Management. Our Intern team, led by Josiah Taurua and supported by Head of Training and Placements Mam Madhuri, managed every stage – from selection and visa lodgement to arrival and induction. The result: our fastest ever visa lodgement to landing timeframe – just 10 days.
The outcome
Sudima Queenstown 5 Mile was fully staffed in time for peak winter season, ensuring seamless operations at one of New Zealand’s busiest tourism destinations. Since partnering with us, Sudima has continued to hire 12 interns year-round, reducing their staff attrition rate from 46% down to just 6.1% in one of the country’s most competitive hospitality markets.
Client feedback
“We reached out to Working In when we were short-staffed ahead of the winter rush. Their team went above and beyond, managing everything from selection and visas to arrival and induction. The interns they placed with us settled in quickly and became valued team members. We were so impressed we now host interns year-round, and it’s made a huge difference to our operations and team culture. The Working In team are professional, responsive, and genuinely care about our success.”
