Accreditation
Employer accreditation is mandatory for any business wanting to employ skilled international workers – including your existing workforce.
The main purpose of the accreditation requirement is to reduce migrant exploitation. It is a three-step process (accreditation, job check, visa). This process comes with costs and the potential for errors along the way. It is crucial to follow it correctly to avoid being unable to hire or retain international staff.
There are three types of accreditation – standard, high-volume and triangular – and you must hold the relevant type for your business.
Whatever stage of the process you are at, our team can help, including submission and processing of Accredited Employer Work Visas, while ensuring applications meet the latest INZ requirements and fee structures.
Job Checks
Once you are accredited, the next step is to apply for a Job Check. This must be approved by Immigration New Zealand (INZ) before you can hire international workers for specific roles.
From 3 November 2025, Job Checks are being assessed using the new NOL job classification system, replacing ANZSCO. INZ requires that the pay for each role meets at least the market rate for that occupation (not the previous median wage threshold).
